ALOTTA : AS AN ARTIST

Did you grow up in an environment conductive to Art?

My parents have always encouraged and supported my artistic endeavors. There was always a variety of music playing in the house. I’m very fortunate to have my love for performance nurtured throughout my life.

What has been the revelation that inspired you the artistic vocation?

I was mesmerized by movie musicals as a child. I knew that all I wanted to do was sing and dance for the rest of my life. I wanted to make people’s hearts soar, to feel what I felt when watching the magic of a musical.

Have you received a specific artistic training?

I learnt classical piano for 10 years, and I took classes of tap dance for over 25 years, along with a few years of jazz.

Where do you get your inspiration?

When I see a performance that stops my breath, when I hear a harmony that makes the hair on my neck stand at attention, when there is a guttural, visceral reaction, that is where I find inspiration.

Is there any particular artist that inspires you?

I live a life full of beautiful expression and amazingly talented people. I’m surrounded by a sea of phenomenal artists who inspire me daily.

What is your most significant artistic experience?

It was performing with the world’s longest running musical review - Beach Blanket Babylon. I have been a performer with them for nearly 6 years.

How do the MUGLER FOLLIES fit in your artistic career?

This show will feed my desire to expand my horizons and audience beyond the San Francisco Bay Area. It will be a challenge and a chance to push myself beyond anything I’ve ever done. I’m very excited for this show!

Where are you from?

I come from San Francisco, USA.

Do you have any distinctive sign?

I usually wear a large flower in my hair. It’s something people have come to recognize of me on and off stage.

What is your favorite place?

So far, my favorite place is the Palais Garnier, in Paris.

What would be the best compliment you can receive?
